In the Light of Amarna – 100 Years of the Nefertiti Discovery

Visiting the exhibitions at the Neues Museum on the Museum Island Berlin

100 Jahre Fund der Nofretete  One of the highlight of this year and still open till Sunday August 4th, 2013 – the Egyptian Museum and Papyrus Collection are presenting an extensive special exhibition on the Amarna period – and the story of the discovery of the bust of Nefertiti on December 6th, 1912. Neues Museum Berlin  The Neues Museum has opened its doors to the public once again. After being badly damaged in the Second World War, the building has been elaborately restored and recreated under the direction of the British star architect David Chipperfield, originally designed by the architect Friedrich August Stüler, reopened in October 2009. The building now provides a new home for the Egyptian Museum and Papyrus Collection, together with artefacts from the Collection of Classical Antiquities. Further information…
